Since 1999 Gmeiner has been a member of Relais Desserts International, a globally renowned association of outstanding pastry chefs, chocolatiers and confectioners. Founded in 1981, the organisation today unites around 100 selected master craftspeople from 19 countries and stands for the highest standards of quality, craft, creativity and innovation. Admission to this select circle requires exceptional professional skill and outstanding quality. Interested houses are recommended by two members and reviewed by an admissions committee. The focus is on passion for the craft, attention to detail, the pursuit of perfection and the ambition to combine tradition with contemporary innovation. Relais Desserts sees itself not only as an award, but as an international community in which knowledge, experience and new ideas are exchanged. Regular international meetings and specialist seminars generate new impulses, techniques and trends that continually develop the craft. For Gmeiner, membership is both a special distinction and an obligation: to preserve the highest quality, to keep developing our craft and to pass on our passion for the finest confectionery across generations.

Gmeiner received special international recognition from Gambero Rosso, one of Italy’s most renowned publishers and authorities on the world of fine food. Gambero Rosso named Gmeiner one of Europe’s best specialist chocolate shops – an award that confirms our high standard of quality, craftsmanship and exceptional confectionery specialities. For us this recognition is both a particular honour and an incentive to continue our passion for the finest chocolate and traditional craftsmanship and to reinterpret it again and again with innovative ideas. European top quality, awarded by Gambero Rosso – and handmade with passion since 1898.

Gmeiner also receives special recognition from DER FEINSCHMECKER, one of Germany’s most renowned gourmet magazines. The traditional Café König in Baden-Baden, run by Gmeiner, has been named one of Germany’s best cafés several times and honoured as state winner for Baden-Württemberg. What particularly impressed was the combination of the highest quality, handmade cakes and confectionery specialities, an elegant setting and expert service. DER FEINSCHMECKER describes Café König as a Baden-Baden institution where the highest product quality meets a traditional coffee-house character. For us this award is both a special honour and confirmation of our standard: with passion, craftsmanship and the highest quality standards we create moments of enjoyment that delight.

Volker Gmeiner received special international recognition in 2014 with his invitation to the World Pastry Stars in Milan. The international congress brought together for the first time ten of the most important figures in world pastry – including renowned masters from Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Great Britain and the USA. Volker Gmeiner represented Germany and German pastry. The World Pastry Stars stand for international excellence, craftsmanship and the combination of traditional skill with entrepreneurial innovation. That Volker Gmeiner was part of this exclusive circle underlines the international recognition of his work and Gmeiner’s standing within modern pastry. A special tribute to our craftsmanship – and a sign that Gmeiner also ranks among the outstanding names in pastry internationally.

Gmeiner was included in the renowned book “HANDGEMACHT – Germany’s finest manufactories”. The publication edited by Florian Langenscheidt and Peter May presents a selected group of outstanding German manufactories that stand for exceptional quality, traditional craftsmanship, individuality and fine workmanship. The inclusion honours Gmeiner as a long-established family business in which, since 1898, craftsmanship, the highest quality and a passion for the finest confectionery are combined. A special recognition of our manufactory work and of our ambition to keep genuine craftsmanship alive today.
